That’s the nuts and bolts of what I did last Wednesday when I spent 17 hours with Ryan McDonald, a starting center on University of Illinois football team for a story that we published today. The 6’3″ center is no slouch. I could barely keep up with him. What really makes him interesting is that he is also a grad student in their Aerospace Engineering program. He graduated second in his class last year.
I had a lot of fun following McDonald the whole day. Needless to say I was exhausted after 17 hours with him, but the nap on his couch and his good attitude and willingness to let me be there for everything made the day really fun. I’d like to think I gained a new friend from another great opportunity USA TODAY afforded me. I still think I have the best job in the world!
