In commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Memorial, the name of every service member who died or became missing-in-action during the conflict will be read out loud. It will take four days to read the over 58,000 names on the wall. Readers have come from all over the country to honor these veterans.
Every day from readers take shifts reading names on a stage set up in front of the memorial. The readers start at 5 a.m. and end at 12 a.m. every day. The final day of reading is Saturday November 10, 2007.
I was really moved by my visit there during the Reading of the Names on Wednesday. If you able, I would make time to attend, listen, and remember.
Stay Tuned. There will be more to come about a project I produced about this anniversary.
