After the failure and the market reaction of the bailout/investment plan that was rejected by the House of Representatives on Monday we at USA TODAY decided to do a story about how this is really affecting us as Americans. On Tuesday USA TODAY photojournalists around the country took photos, conducted video interviews, and put together a total of four video packages for this front-page story. I told the story of how the greater D.C. area is being affected. I was fascinated to learn that our city is one of the least affected in the country mostly due to the presence of the federal government. Our team did a fantastic job gathering stories from California, New York, and Pennsylvania. You can see the video stories here
Many thanks to Gib and Jaime from Gib Leonard’s Rental Car Clearance Center in Arlington, Va. and Professor Stephen Fuller, PhD, from George Mason University for taking time out of their days to let me interview them for this story.
Author’s note: I wish I had found a creative way to include a shot while riding a Vespa scooter from Gib’s shop. My girlfriend says that they are the wave of the future and I’m all about the future! They look like a ton of fun plus, get fantastic gas mileage and are way Euro. That makes them inherently cool. Right?
