The past few days in New Orleans has been great. I haven’t had much time to explore the city while working on my shoot for USA TODAY, but I do want to share a few photographs from my walk from my hotel to the French Quarter. Mardi Gras began last Friday and I saw many people sporting the brightly colored reflective beads. Even some of the street signs and stoplights modeled the necklaces. I tried to find some New Orleans character in a restaurant and I found Evelyn’s Place. The pub was littered with currency foreign and domestic–all stapled to the walls. The bartender/server wore a weathered face and uttered short sentences with a voice so gravely you could swear he was casted for the role. If the place had much more personality I think it would have started a conversation with me. Many thanks to everyone who endorsed various yummy eateries.
