As a Video and Photojournalist for USA TODAY it is always a challenge to take good still photographs while simultaneously producing, shooting, and interviewing for my video story. This has been an ongoing struggle for me as I juggle video storytelling with photojournalism. I think I am finally getting a little bit better at managing the HD cam on one shoulder and the still camera on the other. Here are a few published and unpublished photographs from my story about the ‘perfect storm’ of issues helping to create the hunger crisis in Ethiopia. I went there to do both stills with a big commitment to a video story. I traveled with a reporter out of our NY bureau to the capital city Addis Ababa, then to Awasa, and finally to Konso and we put up a small photo gallery from each region.
