God is big. We are small.
We have had a lot of rain lately and some pretty serious storms. This is a photograph I took outside of my house at 5:00 p.m. and 39 seconds eastern. Putting up a video of the fast-moving clouds on my facebook right now.
Who are you that you can leave me intoxicated by your beauty? Why should you receive a double-portion of such majestic sights and sounds? I miss you for I am simply helpless against your powers.
I am attempting to construct something that conveys the beauty in CA. Attempt being the operative word here. I’ll post it if I don’t get crippled by being overwhelmed first.
On the day that appeared to be the single promise for the hope of spring, me and about a dozen of my friends and fellow photography enthusiasts went out to Great Falls. We walked around for about three hours enjoying some beautiful sunshine and some even more delightful sights as we explored the park from the Maryland side. Many of the people who attended the photo class I held back in January came out for this also. January was the lecture, this was the lab. Wow, I much prefer the lab : )
After it was all done I took a group photograph of us all and did a little light painting to make the photograph a little bit more interesting. See if you can find me! After that many of us went to dinner and we had a little slideshow on the spot of our favorite 100 photographs. Most of those are in the slide show below.
Thank you Jeremy, Meghan, Monica, Scott, Julie, Jon, Kelly, Mike, Carrie, José, Lauren, Kevin, Allison, & Steve for sharing a Saturday with me and for contributing to this slide show!
When beauty beckons me to look twice I take pause and often take a photograph. I took these photographs one rather cold morning last week in the throws of the Smokestack Effect story. Next time you encounter beauty–on any scale–consider slowing down enough to admire the reflection of God before you.
